Palazzo Medici Riccardo Museum
Walking into the museum, I was not surprised that a Medici would have created a place such as this. The first stop is a small courtyard where the walls were adorned with beautiful artwork. Right outside the courtyard was a beautiful garden with trees and a fountain. Upstairs was the particularly impressive Chapel of the Magi. There wasn't much information given about this very tiny room but the walls were painted beautifully and the pictures all impressively preserved. The pictures showed scenes of nobles, some on their horses, with a vast green landscape behind them. Each seat was an individual seat with armrests separating it from the others which I found strange because generally in a church there are pews with no separation of seats. The rest of the museum houses many things you would expect to find in a Medici Palace-equisitie furniture, huge chandeliers made from Murano glass, and artwork everywhere. The other thing I found odd about this museum though was the small exhibits of modern artists scattered throughout museum. There were even works completed in 2013. I thought this was a strange contrast to the older Palazzo.
