Globalization and the Black Plague

In the times of globalization what would happen in present day if something like this were to happen?

Globalization is the result of modern technology and the international access that is available to a much broader spectrum of people in present day than in the past.  If something like the Black Plague were to happen now there is the potential for a much greater mortality rate than when travel, and import-export was not as prevalent.  The Internet and modern communication technology would allow a team of international doctors to work on a cure together and account of the differences that could present themselves as the disease spread through different regions.  However, with international travel as easy and affordable as it is for a large percentage of the population the disease would have the opportunity to spread much faster than it did in the Middle Ages.  People have access to their own cars and some their own boats, so the infected wealthy who may travel long distances to doctors could infect others along the way event if public transportation was suspended.  Out of fear, people may try to flea infected areas while inadvertently spreading the plague by bringing with them the contamination.  There would be chaos because of people afraid to go to work or out in public.  People today aren’t as self-sufficient because of the great trade industry.  Cities are very densely populated and would offer a great spread of the infection quickly.  The connectedness that the world has now compared to during the Middle Ages would be beneficial to the doctors searching for a cure, and could offer quick medical advisories to areas not yet infected.  However, the instant information on the internet, spread of rumors through the media, and cultural shift that has happened to present societies would cause a chaos that was not documented as a feature of the Black Plague of the Middle Ages.
