The Cathedral and Baptistry

I will say that I live right on the corner of the location of both the cathedral and baptistry. And although I can see "il Duomo" from my apartment window, I have never been inside beside the lines to gain entrance are extremely intimidating. It was not until it was assigned to go that I finally gained the courage to wait on line to get in. It was the dome of the Cathedral that I was most excited for and it did not disappoint. Upon looking at the dome, I was proven right as the art work was incredible. It was very intricately done and I am always impressed by such feats that were done so many years ago.

I then went on to the Baptistry across the piazza. The first you notice is the golden doors that are the entrance. Although it is a reproduction, the door is still a magnificent sight. One you enter the Baptistry, you are struck by the gold decor and the beauty of the dome of the Cathedral. Its interesting to note how a person must be baptized before gaining access to the Cathedral. I really like how this shows how the original sign from birth is not worthy of being in the presence of God in the Cathedral
